Damien Lumby is an enthusiastic & passionate Knowledge Management Coordinator for UBS User Service Centres. Damien combines his current Knowledge Management role with other roles such as:

  • Process Analysis,
  • Technical Documentation,
  • Non-Technical Documentation
  • Training & Facilitation.

Throughout his varied career, Damien has worked in the Retail, Telecommunications, Education and IT sectors in Australia, Ireland and the UK.

Damien's presentation will discuss how he:

  • reviewed the interaction between the company's Learning and Development (L&D) and Knowledge Management (KM) processes;
  • added value to the L&D function by performing an audit of knowledge across the organization and developing capability based on this analysis;
  • created a dynamic environment to support learning;
  • developed communities and networks to transfer knowledge within the organization.

Amanda Lizier has spent a decade working in learning and organisational development within blue chip organisations.  Amanda’s passion is applying latest complexity science research to improving organisational life, something she does as director of Six Degrees Learning and as a doctoral student at University of Technology Sydney researching the learners’ experience within complex organisations.

Learning networks are critical to sharing, creating and disseminating knowledge within organisations but can you create a learning network or do they need to evolve organically? Amanda will look at this question using a case study from her work at Pfizer Australia and the People Managers Network she created there - was it successful? You'll have to come to find out!

Helen Hasan is Associate Professor in Information Systems at University of Wollongong.  She has been a member of the KM committee of Standards Australia since its beginning and is proud of her role in writing the Australian KM Standard released in 2005.  Her research areas relate to an innovative aspect of KM that she now refers to as 'Sensible Organisation'. She has published widely in academia and she has applied her research findings in numerous consulting projects.

In this presentation Helen will tell some stories about her work in the area of 'Sensible Organisation'.  In particular she will relate how the playing of a purpose built online team game can improve cooperative behaviour in organisations and thereby enhance information and knowledge sharing. This can lead to the growth of an organisational culture where it is natural to learn by doing and be more agile to respond positively to the challenges of the current complex global environment.

"Always leave them wanting more, not less". The triple threat format offers 3 speakers 30 minutes each to inform & engage you.
